So, here's something different- I've designed and constructed a light table. The acrylic plate was scavenged from a broken food display case, and the pieces of wood were parts of the packaging for a washing machine. The construction consists of three interlocking frames, which are connected by hinges. It's sturdy in functional mode, and little more than an inch wide when collapsed.
A few years back I made functioning crow quills from actual crow feathers. There was a peculiar satisfaction in that, and there is the same satisfaction in this. The satisfaction of making one's own tools, however unsophisticated they may be.
